The projects

We had 10 teams signed up, but two teams had to pull out due to travel issues and conflicting interests. Four teams had existing websites in their language, but most ended up keeping the old site and building a new site alongside the old one; others were building new sites from scratch and were launched as subdomains.

Brand new sites launched: 7

Rebuilt old sites: 1

New Website Managers trained: 16

Trainer retrained: 1 (Anton, new Wildfire 5 material)

The workshop

What went well

The participants learnt quickly, many racing ahead of what I was showing them, trying out the features available. They are obviously comfortable working with computers, for the most part.

Challenges

I think the biggest challenge was the language barrier - with most training being done through a translator, I found there were less questions being asked of me during the participant's working time than I am used to - though pak Anton was there to help them, which he did a lot.

The Venue

The workshop venue was a bit less set up than I am used to. Only one bedroom had AC.

The old facility was destroyed in an earthquake/tidal wave/liquefaction event seven years ago, and this replacement facility is still being set up and equipped.

The internet was provided by a portable WIFI with cellular SIM, which proved a challenge at times, as much for signal as for overuse by 19 computers. Several people used their own cellular data, which helped.

Fellowship 🥳

There was time after the workshop on some occasions for us to kick back and form relations with the locals, through food and activities.

Thanksgiving

All praise goes to God for the successful running of the workshop, with only minor hiccups that could be solved with a little workaround.

Even when there were power outages, they happened outside of workshop hours! That's really so amazing.

May God bless the work of these communities as they desire their peoples to come to know the Lord!
