EMDC Online Workshop Report

The online workshop “Build a Website with Kalaam” was offered through the EMDC Online platform.  The class met for a total of eight 2-hour sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays in August.  There was a total of 10 participants that attended a majority of class sessions (a couple others attended one or two sessions but were unable to fully participate for a variety of reasons).  Of the 10 participants, 5 were working on building new websites and 5 were existing website managers.

Most of the instruction took place during the class Zoom sessions, with students working on different parts of their websites in between classes.  To help facilitate the class, a website was created that included the class schedule, assignments, and links to resources.  A WhatsApp group was also set up to help facilitate class communication.

Overall, the students were highly motivated.  They frequently went above and beyond what they had been asked to do for class assignments.  They also interacted well during class sessions, sharing the progress they had made on their websites and asking good questions, as well as making suggestions for improvements that could be made to Wildfire.  

Some work remains to get the new websites launched, but we are thankful for the completion of a successful virtual workshop!
